WMAC - Objectives (as per Constitutional Bylaw Chapter 120)
The Waste Management Advisory Committee objectives shall be to:

Develop and recommend community 3Rs educational programs, these programs are to touch on all sectors of the community and the programs will target long term reductions in waste for disposal;

Implement and promote approved 3Rs educational programs as funding and resources permit;

Utilize a variety of media and means to promote to the public general waste reduction ideas and activities;

Develop the annual promotional program through discussions with the applicable City departments, subject to Council approval;

Proactively seek topic areas and issues within the solid waste management field, on which to do research; further, WMAC will develop policies, positions and advice based on this research and investigation for Council's consideration;

Hold open public meetings in an accessible location; WMAC will encourage public participation in constructive debate on topics being discussed at open meetings;
- Actively seek public input on topics and items that are waste management issues or will affect the operation of the Waste Diversion Site and/ or waste management programs; information from open meetings and research will be freely distributed, subject to the applicable privacy laws and guidelines;

Advise and assist the City by reviewing all action plans (programs, changes in operations etc.) which are under consideration by the City;

Undertake educational initiatives both formally and informally, which raise the profile of the natural environment of the City of Orillia.
